Color against the light - The art of stained glass
Museum Kleines Klingental, Basel
Guided tour with Daniel Lachenmeier, certified illustrator FH and City Guide
In its thousand-year history, architectural stained glass has evolved from Christian iconography. The spiritual and aesthetic effect of the medium, which has always brought light and color into sacred buildings, has survived social upheavals without losing any of its validity. The coats of arms on the choir windows of Basel Cathedral are the only relics of Basel stained glass windows from the 14th century. Today they are part of the collection of the Museum Kleines Klingental and form the basis for presenting the medium of stained glass through the ages and immersing visitors in the craft processes behind it.
