This project was born in 2024 during an artistic residency aboard a sailing ship in the Sporades region of the Aegean Sea. Immersed in the tales of 17th-century sailors and pirates, the artist imagined the life of these buccaneers. She transformed each island into a land to explore and each new day into an adventure to face with her crew.
The exhibition explores the fascination aroused by these "bad guys", heroes of a collective imagination. Pirates and sailors, figures of rebellion, are the precursors of the strike and the fight against the powerful. The artist pays tribute to these outlaws who were able to shake things up and give a voice to those forgotten by history.
Lara Paratte (1991) was born and lives in Delémont. She obtained a Bachelor's degree from the Haute école d'art du Valais EDHEA and a Master's degree from the Hep-Bejune in Biel to teach visual education. In 2020, she obtained a Master of Fine Arts from the Basel School of Art.
