Xsundheit!?

Winterthur

A trio of women in costume will share fascinating insights about women and medicine in Winterthur—from the Middle Ages to the present day.

Women and Medicine in Winterthur  What does vaccination have to do with cows? Who was the woman after whom the new bridge at the Grüze crossing is named? What kept female doctors on their toes during World War II? What do midwives discuss during their lunch break? And why doesn’t a community nurse have any time?  Our trio of women in period costume will reveal all this to you on the new “Xsundheit” walking tour. You’ll learn fascinating facts about women and medicine in Winterthur—from the Middle Ages to the present day. Join us as we visit the original sites: from the outbreak of the smallpox epidemic in the Old Town to the never-ending construction site of the Cantonal Hospital!
