Claudia Comte – Lightning Symphony

Messe Basel, Basel

Walk-in sound installation *Lightning Symphony* by Claudia Comte from May 10 on the Messeplatz - a luminous work of sound art for the ESC, supported by the Christoph Merian Foundation.

Walk-in sound wave installation on the Messeplatz, from May 10. Open to the public. Supported by the Christoph Merian Foundation.

Lightning Symphony by Swiss artist Claudia Comte is a monumental 52-metre inflatable sculpture next to the ESC Village on Messeplatz that transforms sound into a physical spatial experience. Shaped like undulating sound waves, the installation stretches horizontally across the floor - two colossal sound waves that become tangible - and forms a walk-through corridor that invites visitors to enter the architecture of music itself.

From the outside, the flowing black contours trace the iconic waveforms of popular classics and modern anthems, giving form to the otherwise invisible. Inside, LED lights pulsate outwards in rhythmic waves, enlivening the structure with a glowing heartbeat - a luminous, meditative encounter with music in motion.

As the artistic centerpiece of the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, the Lightning Symphony is a vibrant celebration of rhythm, community and the unifying power of sound - an experience not to be missed.

"For the Eurovision Song Contest, I wanted to create an immersive installation that honors the profound interplay of sound, movement and contemporary art. This installation, called Lightning Symphony, transforms the fairground into both a stage and a sanctuary. It stands as a symbol of community and invites all people - regardless of origin, language or background - to experience music as a universal language that transcends borders." Claudia Comte

Basel Tourism would like to thank the Christoph Merian Foundation for its support.
