The Vogel Gryff in the Museum Kleines Klingental dates from the second half of the 17th century and was in use until 1947. It is a deposit of the Three Honorary Societies of Kleinbasel and was restored in 1992. The "Vogel Gryff" is the most important feast day in Kleinbasel. The origins of the custom of the three badges of honor "Vogel Gryff", "Wild Maa" and "Leu" date back to the Middle Ages. Every year, the "Wild Maa" travels down the Rhine on a raft, lands at the Kleiner Klingental and meets the other two animals here, watched by a large crowd of spectators. Why does this gathering take place in front of the former Klingental convent building? The guided tour gets to the bottom of this and other questions about the Kleinbasel Day of Honor.
Lecture: Franz Baur, member of the honorary society "Zur Hären" and member of the Vogel Gryff game for 40 years
