Jahic & Roethlisberger: «I Drove All Night – Thinking About You»
Klybeckstrasse 18, Basel
Neon installation on the façade of Klybeckstrasse 18, merging iconic song titles into a luminous dialog.
A dialog from: Jahic / Roethlisberger (2020)
With the neon installation "I Drove All Night - Thinking About You", Swiss artists Jahic & Roethlisberger make a poetic statement in public space. Song titles from pop history become both language and sculpture: "I Drove All Night" (Céline Dion, 2003) and "Thinking About You" (Whitney Houston, 1985) transform the façade at Klybeckstrasse 18 in Basel into a stage for memories, emotion and collective projection.
The work is part of the series "Music - A Conversation Through Song Titles", in which Jahic & Roethlisberger have been exchanging ideas exclusively with song titles for years. The illuminated letters are visible around the clock - but the work unfolds its full atmospheric effect at dusk and at night, when the language of pop culture lights up in neon.
The installation is part of a broader collaboration with the KBH.G Foundation, in whose rooms the exhibition "Music" was on display in 2021.
