Wilchingen has a long chilbi and market tradition in its history.

Church consecration has been celebrated since the Middle Ages as a religious festival to mark the consecration of a Christian church. There is not the slightest doubt that the people of Wilchingen have celebrated St. Othmar's Day since before the Reformation, i.e. before 1529, and probably even since their own parish was founded in 1515.

From the very beginning, St. Othmar was the patron saint of the church. His name day determines the date of the Chilbi. Every Sunday and Monday after November 16, the day of St. Othmar, Wilchingen celebrates the Chilbi and market with a variety of original and colorful market stalls.
