Museum Rietberg

Museum Rietberg, Zürich

The Museum Rietberg Zurich is the only art museum for non-European cultures in Switzerland and has an internationally renowned collection of works from Asia, Africa, America and Oceania.

By presenting works of art, the museum aims not only to raise awareness of the fascinating diversity of artistic forms of expression, but also to awaken understanding and interest in foreign cultures, world views and religions. In addition, the impressively staged special exhibitions attract a great deal of attention worldwide. Visitors can enjoy the unique interplay of old and new after a stroll through the secluded Rieter Park with views of the city and the Alps: The historic villas tell their story - Richard Wagner wrote Tristan and Isolde here - while the green glass pavilion, the "Smaragd", which opened in 2007, acts as the entrance to the modern underground extension wing.
