Alpine procession of the goats to Alpe Hannig
Parkplatz P1 nach Alpe Hannig, Saas-Fee
The traditional Alpine procession from Saas Fee to Alpe Hannig with more than 100 goats is a custom that was reintroduced more than 20 years ago. An alpine procession with so many goats is a unique cultural event for all those taking part, something that is rarely seen in such a setting nowadays.
The procession follows a beautiful, more or less evenly ascending hiking trail through the spring-green larch forest. The duration of the hike from Saas Fee to Alpe Hannig (a leisurely walk with the goats including a rest break) is approx. 2 - 2.5 hours. Once at the top, all helpers and participants are invited to a welcome reception with food and drink and a cosy get-together.
Alpine assent: Saturday, 14 June 2025 Depending on the state of the vegetation, the Alpine drive may have to be postponed by one week to 21 June 2025.
